Exploring what sustainability means in the data center context

Following last year’s landmark UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Scotland, climate neutrality has rocketed to the top of the regulatory, corporate and ethical agenda for world leaders, tech giants and individuals concerned with the warming of our planet.

With the proportion of energy ‘guzzled’, water consumed and land ringfenced by the Europe’s largest data centers under much scrutiny, it is no longer acceptable to view sustainability as an ‘add-on’ but a net-zero target-reaching industry at its very core as a consequence of residing in a carbon-neutral continent.

As we host Europe’s leading voices on carbon conscious computing, we will ask:

  • How will Europe’s energy shock affect our green ambition?
  • Far beyond PUE: are today’s metrics adequate enough to measure your true environmental impact?
  • Are we effectively communicating the data center sustainability opportunity?
  • What is the science behind optimising energy efficiency for the modern data center?
