For over two decades, Cole Crawford has architected the foundational infrastructure powering critical global systems, spanning distributed financial networks, defense-grade cloud platforms, open-source hardware, and ultra-secure data centers. His influence on digital infrastructure has earned him recognition as a Top 50 Data Economy player and a prominent figure in the shift toward distributed AI infrastructure. His early career set the operational foundation for modern financial processing, where he engineered mission-critical transaction architecture covering authorization, batch, and settlement layers for Paymentech. He subsequently expanded into high-security federal environments as CTO of Autonomic Resources, managing complex cloud deployments for the U.S. Department of Defense and key federal agencies, while directly shaping the U.S. Government's official framework for Cloud Computing and cybersecurity resilience. To scale infrastructure globally, Cole co-founded OpenStack, the world’s standard for open-source cloud, and built the Open Compute Project from the ground up as Founding Executive Director, transforming how hyperscale data center hardware is designed, secured, and deployed. As Founder & CEO of Vapor IO, he pioneered edge infrastructure by building the Kinetic Edge, a nationwide network of hardened, tower-connected micro-data centers designed to bring distributed AI compute directly to the physical edge. Today, Cole serves as Co-Founder & Chairman of NATIVX, where he leads the architecture of secure, next-generation distributed financial networks. He also serves as Chairman of the Neocloud Starfield, pushing the boundaries of modern distributed AI and cloud compute platforms. As an Operating Partner at BOKA Capital, he advises global infrastructure players on high-stakes AI, data center, Quantum and security transactions, leveraging a deep background in government cybersecurity to bolster Western democratic resilience.
