Google has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to procure renewable energy in Poland.
Polsat Plus Group this week announced Google will offtake from the Polish company’s ZE PAK wind farm in Przyrów to power Google Cloud’s operations.
This is Google Cloud’s first renewable energy contract in Poland. Google launched a Polish cloud region in April 2021.

Polsat is a major telecoms and media group in Poland. The company is moving into the energy space in partnership with the ZE PAK power engineering company.
Polsat Plus Group and ZE PAK plan to launch the ZE PAK wind farm in Q4 2024. The 50.4MW farm will consist of 14 turbines.
Polsat Plus Group’s installed renewable energy portfolio totals around 330MW and is expected to reach 740MW by 2025, split almost evenly between solar and on-shore wind.
Polsat Plus Group also announced it will be migrating part of its IT infrastructure to Google Cloud.

Microsoft, Orange, T-Mobile. and Amazon have previously signed PPAs in Poland.
2023 has seen Google sign a number of PPAs as it looks to shift from blanket off-setting to 24/7 energy matching.
In Europe, the company has signed PPAs with EDPR in the Netherlands, as well as with Luminus in Belgium and Eneco in the Netherlands, and Power Capital Renewable Energy in Ireland.
In the US the company has signed another solar deal with EDPR totaling 650MW as well as with Ørsted in Texas, with Sol Systems for projects in North & South Carolina, and Apex Clean Energy in North Carolina.
