Located at 6526 New Albany Road East, the company said its facility will be designed for high-intensity artificial intelligence workloads and will use ThermalWorks' waterless cooling system.

The company broke ground on its Edged Colombus facility in August this year. At the time, the company said the facility would span 206,000 sq ft (19,140 sqm) across two stories.

The topping-out event was attended by the Edged leadership team and New Albany’s Mayor Sloan Spalding.

“Here in New Albany, we have made it a priority to partner with companies like Edged who are not just invested in our community’s economic success but are also deeply committed to the long-term health and sustainability of our region,” said Mayor Spalding.

Mitch Fonseca, Edged’s chief operating officer, added: “The Edged Columbus data center will bring critical capacity to one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the country. Most importantly though, our facility will support the region’s thriving digital economy in a way that conserves and protects precious local resources.”

Edged Energy is a subsidiary of Endeavour, which was set up by Aligned founder Jakob Carnemark. The company has data centers operating or in development in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and across the US, including Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and Illinois.

Microsoft is currently building in the New Albany area with AWS and Google also having a large footprint around the Columbus area, including in Licking County’s New Albany. Meta also has a campus in New Albany.

The likes of Vantage and CyrusOne are also planning data centers in the city.
