Aligned Data Centers has broken ground on a new facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
“We celebrated Aligned Data Centers' groundbreaking for building #2 as part of their 100-acre campus with over 1 million sq ft of data hall space,” Loraine German, deputy director at the City of Glendale’s office of economic development, said this week on LinkedIn.
Aligned has yet to comment on the news or provide any information on the facility. DCD has contacted the company for more details.
Images suggest Aligned was breaking ground on PHX-13, which is reportedly located at 8805 N Reems Road, according to Data Center Hawk.
Update: Aligned has officially announced the groundbreaking of PHX-13 - one of four planned facilities for the 100-acre site. The company said the site was once a rose farm.
DC Hawk also notes the site is set to be home to the company’s PHX-12 and PHX-14. PHX-07 is also located along N Reems Road, at 8785, and is due to go live later this year.
According to Cushman and Wakefield, Aligned acquired 100 acres at 8785 N Reems Road in Waddell in December 2024 for $86.5 million from LXP Industrial Trust. The company also acquired 75th Ave & Northern Avenue in Glendale in October 2024 for $10.2 million from Renewal Mgmt. Remainder Trust.
Aligned operates a 55-acre Phoenix campus at 2500 W Union Hills Drive. Opened in 2017 and expanded in 2018, the site totals 550,000 sq ft (51,095 sqm) and 180MW across three buildings. It also has a separate build-to-suit project on the campus.
The company last year acquired land in the Peoria Logistics Park from VanTrust Real Estate for $43.2 million, but has yet to comment on the land buy.
Phoenix is a major data center hub, with many of the major developers and operators having multiple buildings and sites across the region. Vantage and QTS are also developing campuses in the Glendale area of Phoenix.
“I am excited to see PHX-13 break ground,” said Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers.“In 2025, data centers are essential to the US economy and future growth. This project and all the benefits it will bring are exciting for our Glendale community.”
