UK fiber provider Openreach has reported two separate incidents of vandalism against its fiber network in Bedminster and Chippenham.
The company reported that local homes and businesses were left without phone and broadband because of the incidents.
The attacks were separate incidents, noted Openreach, which said that it was able to restore its network in Bedminster in a social media post yesterday.
Openreach added that its engineers were working late into the night to restore its service in Chippenham.
The company didn't specify how many people were affected by the acts of vandalism, though the issue is an all too familiar one for telcos.
"These deliberate attacks on our network have caused significant damage and unacceptable disruption for local people who rely on these services to stay connected, work, run businesses and access support," said Openreach in its statement.
"We're working closely with the police to support their investigations and help ensure those responsible are identified and held accountable."
Openreach has reported several attacks to its network in recent years, which have led to several outages.
This has often been because of copper theft, with incidents reported in locations including Durham, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, North Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Essex, Shropshire, and beyond.
However, some vandals cut fiber cables thinking they are copper, causing the same outcome for communities.
