TikTok's owner, ByteDance, has signed a capacity agreement with Vnet Group.

As reported by Bloomberg, the company signed a 500MW data center agreement with Vnet for its data centers in China.

Vnet had 783MW of data center capacity as of the end of September, of which 582MW was already being utilized by customers.

The company claims to operate more than 50 data centers in 30 cities across China, but its website only details four data centers as operational in China. The company is currently developing its N-HB Campus 02.

In March 2025, Vnet was seeking to raise $400m in bonds to expand its network of data centers, as well as to provide working capital to cover other corporate costs.

The company's net revenue in the July-September quarter rose 22 percent year-over-year to 2.58 billion yuan ($370 million), with 1.95 billion yuan ($283m) from data centers.

ByteDance is the anchor tenant at Bridge Data Centres' facility in Johor, Malaysia, and is known to be working with DayOne in Singapore. It is known to be targeting developments in Thailand, Brazil, and Australia. In the US, TikTok is hosted in an Oracle data center in Texas. In Europe, the firm is leasing data centers in Norway from Green Mountain and working with Hyperco and DayOne in Finland.

As well as social media platform TikTok, ByteDance has a cloud offering known as Volcano Engine.
