Australian real estate firm Stockland has filed to develop a new data center campus in Melbourne, Australia.
Victoria’s planning register notes Stockland has filed for a planning permit to develop two two-story data centers totaling 250MW at 72-76 Cherry Lane in Laverton. Full details haven't been shared.
The application was filed earlier this week. The site currently hosts a warehouse facility totaling around 20,000 sqm (215,278 sq ft).
The site was previously owned by Toll Transport, which sold it to Stockland in 2025 for AU$35.5 million ($24.5m).
Founded in 1952, Sydney-based Stockland is one of Australia’s largest property groups, with investments spanning town centers, logistics developments, workplaces, master-planned communities, and land lease communities. Its portfolio is valued at AU$10.6 billion (US$6.6bn), and the company claims a pipeline value of AU$59bn (US$$41.6bn).
Stockland has recently partnered with EdgeConneX for a development in the Macquarie Park area of Sydney, and has previously developed another facility in the same area.
The company has previously filed to develop a 168MW facility in the Kemps Creek area of Sydney. The company is targeting another project at 2 Davis Road in Wetherill Park – currently home to a distribution center.
In its most recent earnings results, Stockland said it has three data center projects included in the New South Wales Government’s Investment Delivery Authority (IDA) fast-track approval process – in Wetherill Park, Kemps Creek, and Macquarie Park – as well as three existing sites with secured power totalling 450MW.
In February, the firm said it had secured power for ~350MW of data center development in Melbourne at Cherry Lane in Laverton and at the Brooklyn Distribution Centre.
