Data center firm Stack Infrastructure is expanding into Malaysia with plans for a new data center campus in Johor.
Announced this week, the 10.8-hectare campus will span two facilities and 1 million sq ft (92,900 sqm). The JHB01 campus will feature an on-site substation.
The first phase of the first 120MW, two-story building is scheduled for initial delivery in Q4 2026.
“We are excited to bring Stack’s proven expertise to Malaysia’s rapidly growing data center market,” said Preet Gona, CEO, Stack APAC. “As part of our continued expansion across APAC, our Johor Bahru campus strengthens our ability to meet clients’ strategic needs in both established and emerging Tier 1 markets, while fostering economic growth within the local community.”
Stack – launched by investment firm IPI Partners in early 2019 after merging former Infomart and T5 assets into a new wholesale colocation provider – announced plans to expand into APAC in October 2021. Across the region, the company has projects in Japan, Australia, and South Korea.
Stack owner IPI was acquired by Blue Owl Capital late last year.
Located in Malaysia’s south, Johor is just across the border from Singapore. Though Singapore is starting to ease restrictions around its ongoing moratorium on new data center developments, Johor has grown a sizeable data center market of its own as developments overspill from the city-state.
Developers and operators with data centers in operation or development in Johor include PDG, AirTrunk, Equinix, Keppel, ChinData's Bridge DC, Yondr, NTT, and others.
