Singapore's Keppel has inked an agreement with Dell to develop data centers.

The “strategic framework agreement” between Keppel’s connectivity division and Dell will see the pair collaborate on “efficient data centers and jointly invest in and develop next-generation AI platforms in Asia.”

Keppel’s press release states that the facilities will be located in “strategic data center hubs” within Asia, but specific countries were not named. Details about the quantity, capacity, and development timelines of these data centers were also not mentioned.

Dell will provide “technological expertise, [an] extensive enterprise customer base and advanced infrastructure.” Specific details were not disclosed.

The agreement will also see Keppel investing in “industry-specific AI platforms in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and telecommunications.”

The partnership folds in IT provider AsiaPac, which will provide cloud integration, infrastructure management services, enterprise solutions, and digital transformation consulting. The company is a part of Keppel’s Connectivity Division.

Asset manager Keppel owns and operates a number of data centers across Europe and Asia via its Keppel DC REIT and Keppel Data Centres units. Its data center portfolio currently totals 35 facilities across Europe and Asia Pacific, with 650MW of power capacity.

Dell, which is best known for its PC offerings, also develops servers. In August, it was announced that the company, along with Nvidia, had been tapped to build a supercomputer for Australia’s Monash University.
