APAC data center firm Digital Edge is expanding its footprint in Seoul, South Korea.

The company this week announced the acquisition of a fully powered land parcel in Ansan, South Korea, supported by a 90MVA power agreement.

Digital Edge aims to develop SEL5, a 60MW data center, on the land. Timelines for development weren't shared.

The site will feature a dual-feed power architecture supported by two independent 154kV substations. The data center will support high-density workloads via liquid cooling, and include a chiller plant with integrated free cooling.

This investment further demonstrates Digital Edge’s ability to secure strategic infrastructure positions, execute complex transactions, and deliver capacity at scale across Asia-Pacific as customer demand for AI and cloud infrastructure continues to accelerate.”

Digital Edge was formed by New York-based private equity firm Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners in August 2020. The developer has around 25 data centers in operation and under construction, with more than 1.1GW of IT power across Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Digital Edge entered South Korea in 2021 through the acquisition of Sejong Telecom’s data center assets in Seoul (SEL1, 4.8MW) and Busan (PUS1, 14MW).

The company launched its first self-built facility in Korea, the 36MW SEL2, in October 2024. Located in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, that campus will offer 100MW at full build-out across two buildings. The 60MW SEL3 is due live next year.
