A new data center is being planned in Johor, Malaysia.
Digital Decarbonization Solutions Platform (DDSP), which describes itself as an Asia Pacific data center and decarbonized energy solutions developer, this week achieved financial close on $283 million green financing for a planned build-to-suit data center campus in Johor.
The 45MW liquid-cooled campus, located within Sedenak Tech Park, has reportedly been fully contracted to an unnamed “leading global hyperscale customer.”
“The successful completion of this financing marks another significant milestone for DDSP. We are pleased to have secured support from a high-quality banking group and believe the transaction positions DDSP strongly as we continue expanding our hyperscale infrastructure platform across Asia-Pacific,” said Frederic Devos, CEO of DDSP.
Founded in 2022, DDSP says its portfolio spans five markets across Asia Pacific, totaling approximately 1.1GW of controlled capacity. It has projects under construction in Taiwan and Malaysia, and additional campuses planned in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. Full details haven’t been shared.
The transaction was arranged by CTBC Bank, MUFG, and Standard Chartered as Mandated Lead Arrangers, Underwriters, and Bookrunners, alongside Entie Commercial Bank as Mandated Lead Arranger.
Located in Malaysia’s south, Johor is just across the border from Singapore. Though Singapore is starting to ease restrictions around its ongoing moratorium on new data center developments, Johor has grown a sizeable data center market of its own as developments overspill from the city-state.
Data center developers and operators in Johor include PDG, AirTrunk, Equinix, Keppel, Bridge DC, Vantage, Digital Edge, Digital Halo, Nxera, and others.
