Vantage Data Centers has finalized a $1.6bn investment into its APAC platform and has closed its acquisition of a data center in Johor, Malaysia.

Both deals were announced earlier in September.

The investment was led by an affiliate of investment firm GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Both already had a stake in Vantage.

The funds have been used to acquire Yondr’s JHB1 campus in the southern peninsular Malaysian state of Johor. The facility sits on a 73-acre land parcel, and Vantage intends to expand the data center to deliver more than 300MW of capacity across three facilities.

Both Vantage and Yondr are owned by DigitalBridge, and it was reported that the move will simplify the DigitalBridge portfolio in Asia.

Vantage has data centers operating globally. In the APAC region, it has data centers in Melbourne, Australia; Fo Tan, Kwai Chung, and On Lok, Hong Kong; Osaka, Japan; Cyberjaya, Malaysia; and Taipei, Taiwan. Its Malaysia campus is its largest in the APAC region, offering 467MW of capacity.
