Vantage Data Centers has raised $1.6 billion to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, starting with the acquisition of Yondr Group’s data center campus in Johor, Malaysia.

The investment was led by an affiliate of investment firm GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Both already had a stake in Vantage.

“This significant investment marks a pivotal milestone in our APAC growth journey,” said Jeremy Deutsch, president of Vantage Data Centers for the APAC region. “With the support of GIC and ADIA, we are positioned as one of the largest providers of sustainable AI and cloud digital infrastructure in the region.”

Vantage will use some of the funds to acquire Yondr’s Johor campus. As reported by DCD last week, the company had been weighing a move to acquire the campus, located in Johor's Sedenak Tech Park and offering 72.5MW of IT space. It is expected to grow to 300MW at full buildout.

Both Vantage and Yondr are owned by DigitalBridge, and it was reported that the move will simplify the DigitalBridge portfolio in Asia.

“Adding the Johor campus to our portfolio will bring our APAC footprint to 1GW of capacity,” Deutsch said. “This acquisition enables Vantage APAC to continue to deliver scale and speed for our customers.”

In June 2025, Yondr handed over the keys to the first data center at the campus - a 25MW facility - that was delivered six months ahead of schedule. First announced in March 2022 and energized in March 2024, the campus is backed by more than $900 million in financing.

Vantage has data centers operating globally. In the APAC region, it has data centers in Melbourne, Australia; Fo Tan, Kwai Chung, and On Lok, Hong Kong; Osaka, Japan; Cyberjaya, Malaysia; and Taipei, Taiwan. Its Malaysia campus is its largest in the APAC region, offering 467MW of capacity.
