A couple who pleaded guilty to toppling a 500 ft cell tower in Oklahoma last year have each been handed a prison sentence.

Candice Marie Logan, 35, and Matthew Wilson, 38, pleaded guilty in federal court earlier this year after damaging the tower as they sought to steal copper from the site.

This week, Logan was sentenced to eight months in prison, while Wilson was handed a sentence of 30 months.

The incident happened in January 2024. Logan and Wilson felled the 488-foot rod cell tower in Oklahoma, causing an estimated $500,000 in damage.

It led to a local radio station going off air and triggered a multi-agency investigation.

The tower was partially felled, as a guy wire was cut to remove transmission lines quickly. Only 180 ft of the tower was left standing.

They both knowingly took the stolen copper from Hugo, Oklahoma, to Paris, Texas.

Logan and Wilson were arrested two days after the incident, with both admitting to selling the stolen property across state lines. The copper was identified as property of KITX and valued at $45,067.

Their plea agreements include up to $250,000 in fines, mandatory restitution, forfeiture of assets linked to the crime, and waiver of appeal and post-conviction rights.
