European data center firm NorthC is to expand its presence in Germany with a new facility in Frankfurt.

This company this week announced it has acquired a plot of land in the German city and will now commence the development of a 5MW data center.

Further details on location, facility size, or project timelines weren’t shared.

“Following our successful strategy of being present in both regional and central hubs, the entrance into the Frankfurt market confirms our continued growth trajectory,” said Alexandra Schless, CEO of NorthC Group. “Being able to realize such a project within the Frankfurt city limits these times, makes us extremely proud and demonstrates our capabilities to deliver uniquely valuable solutions.” adds Frank Zachmann, MD DACH at NorthC.

NorthC was formed in 2020 after the merger of The Datacenter Group (TDCG) and NLDC. The company operates around a dozen data centers in the Netherlands and two in Germany, with another Dutch facility in development in Eindhoven.

Though this will be the company’s first facility in Frankfurt, NorthC entered Germany in 2021 after acquiring the IP Exchange colocation business from German IT services provider q.beyond. The company took over two data centers. in Nuremberg and Munich. with 14,000 sqm (150,600 sq ft) and more than 7MW of power capacity.

Last year the company took over a Kyndryl data center in Zurich, Switzerland, in a sale-leaseback deal. The company has four in Switzerland in total, following the acquisition of Netrics in 2022.
