Regional Edge data center firm nLighten has deployed solar panels on the roof of its Milton Keynes data center in the UK.
The company has deployed around 1,000 panels on the 4,500-square-meter (48,440 sq ft) rooftop of its Milton Keynes data center.
The company said the 478kW deployment would save around 90 tons of CO2e annually. It is estimated that the produced energy will be sufficient to meet the power requirements of the entire building during certain periods of the day in the summer months.

nLighten is owned by I Squared Capital through its ISQ Global Infrastructure Fund III. The company launched last year, acquiring its 10 initial data centers in Germany from Exa Infrastructure (another I Squared Capital company). The company then acquired French operator Euclyde Data Centers, taking over six facilities across the country. It then acquired UK Edge firm Proximity in September, taking over a further 10 facilities.
Proximity launched its Milton Keynes data center in August 2022. It was previously an RBS cheque processing facility later operated by Nuco Technologies.
