FutureData has announced the first off-taker for its 500MW Malaysian data center park in Sarawak.
FutureData is a consortium comprising the TSG Group of Sarawak and Singaporean firm Cyclect. The consortium was first formed in June 2023 alongside plans for the new data center park in Kota Samarahan.
Global Telecommunications Group is set to be the first customer at the site.
Located in Kuching, Sarawak, FutureData said its data center park will feature purpose-built data centers to cater to its customers.
In an investment valued at $130 million, the first data center for Global Telecommunications Group will have 17MW of IT capacity and is set to be operational by 2026, with construction beginning in the second quarter of next year.
Other details of the facility have not yet been shared.
“As the pioneer developer heeding the call of the State Government to develop large-scale data center parks in Sarawak, in line with Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030, TSG Group is proud to partner with Global Telecommunications Group to set up the first AI DC in Sarawak for our FutureData project,” said Chris Chung, group CEO of TSG Group.
