Aizo Group has announced plans to build a data center in Sarawak, Malaysia, with Netrunner Sdn Bhd.
Netrunner is a special purpose vehicle focused on data center investment in Sarawak. The company will lead the technical development and design of the data center park, which is expected to meet Tier IV standards.
Aizo, formerly known as Minetech Resources, will provide infrastructure support, develop clean energy solutions, and water treatment facilities.
The pair have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with local energy firm Syarikat SESCO for the sale and purchase of electricity for the data center.
Other specifications of the planned facility have not yet been shared.
Dato Abang Abdillah Izzarim, executive chairman of Aizo, said: "This MoU is a significant milestone for all parties involved, and we are excited to contribute to Sarawak’s advancement into the digital age. Aizo Group is proud to play a role in supporting the growth of Sarawak’s digital economy and ensuring that this project has a lasting positive impact."
He added: "This collaboration aligns with Aizo's strategic vision of leveraging cutting-edge technology and sustainable solutions to create long-term value for our stakeholders. We remain committed to our goal of driving innovation and supporting Sarawak’s digital ambitions."
This also marks Aizo’s maiden venture into the data center industry. Founded in 1977, the company was established for the purpose of quarry drilling and civil engineering services, such as rock excavation.
After expanding into manufacturing and construction, the company now focuses on energy, solar power plants, financial technology, and industrial property development.
Founded in March 2024, there is limited information available on Netrunner.
Sarawak is located on the island of Borneo. Poseidon Technologies is planning a facility on the island, announced in October 2023.
