APAC data center firm Evolution Data Centres has secured a land lease for a planned project in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Local press, including Lao Dong and others, reports that Ho Chi Minh City has approved the lease of five hectares of land in the city to Evolution DC Vietnam HCMC Joint Stock Company for a planned data center.

The land, located in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park, is set to be leased to the company for 50 years. The planned data center could total 52MW.

The project could see some $500 million invested, according to local press.

APAC operator Evolution Data Centers first partnered with HTC International Telecommunication JSC (HITC) to develop data centers in Vietnam late last year. The companies planned to develop projects in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, though few details were shared at the time.

Today, Evolution lists a live facility in Hanoi (VN01, offering 4.75MW and capacity for 750 racks across 2,000 sqm) and plans for VN02 in Ho Chi Minh City. The 52MW, 49,500 sqm (532,813 sq ft) facility is due to go live in Q4 2027.

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Singapore, Evolution received backing from Warburg Pincus in 2022. Zero Two, a division of the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, has also invested in the firm.

The company has projects in development in the Philippines (69MW) and Thailand (52MW).
