Cloverleaf has backed out of its plans to develop a data center site in Greenleaf, Wisconsin.

The Village of Greenleaf Board was set to discuss Cloverleaf’s proposal for a 500-acre data center campus today, but the company’s chief development officer told NBC 26 it had abandoned the plan after being told by officials that "the village of Greenleaf is now off the table" for such a project.

Cloverleaf was revealed as the company behind a series of land purchase offers in the village according to Fox 11. Offers ranged between $50,000 and $120,000 per acre, and the land parcels were located between Highway 57 on the east, the East River on the west, Mallard Road on the north, and Fair Road on the south.

Greenleaf, located in northeastern Wisconsin, is not situated near any data centers, with most of the facilities in the state located around the city of Milwaukee.

But the Greenleaf data center is not Cloverleaf’s only project in Wisconsin. The company has around 1,900 acres of land near the southeastern city of Port Washington, and in June, it was reported that data center operator Vantage was set to develop facilities on a portion of that land.

Cloverleaf is also backing projects in Georgia and Michigan.

Founded in February 2024 amidst the AI boom, Cloverleaf Infrastructure is a powered land provider that buys land for data center companies and works with utilities to upgrade the necessary power infrastructure.
