Cameroon's ST Digital has opened a data center in Côte d'Ivoire, also known as the Ivory Coast.

The cloud service provider announced on October 2 that it had inaugurated its first facility in the West African nation, following a rapid construction turnaround that began in November 2024.

The facility, which spans 4,000 sqm (43,055 sq ft) and houses 160 racks with more than 6,000 physical servers, is located at the Village of Information Technologies and Biotechnology in Grand-Bassam, a coastal town east of the country’s capital, Abidjan.

ST Digital is currently recruiting an office manager, a safety manager, a data center technician, and an infrastructure technician to staff the facility.

Details about the facility’s capacity and size were not made available.

The Cameroon-based company provides cloud services in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Togo, Gabon, and Côte d’Ivoire. It broke ground on a data center near Gabon’s capital, Libreville, in August of this year.

Although Côte d’Ivoire is not a data center hotspot, the country has seen some interest from the data center industry as of late. Equinix-owned MainOne launched a data center in the city at the end of 2023, while Raxio launched a facility in September of last year.

Last month, the Export-Import Bank of the US also approved more than $100 million in financing guarantees for digitalization efforts in the country. This includes the construction of a data center.
