Gabon has broken ground on a data center near the capital, Libreville.

Details about capacity and size are not available. The facility is set to be operational in five months.

According to Developing Telecoms, the facility will offer sovereign cloud services. Further details were not provided.

The total number of data centers in Gabon is unclear. Data Center Map and Baxtel show that ST Digital’s facility would be the country’s first, but Data Center Journal lists three data centers in Libreville, including the Gabon Internet eXchange and Airtel Gabon.

ST Digital is based in Cameroon and provides cloud services in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Togo, Gabon, and Cote d’Ivoire.
