CyrusOne has filed to develop three buildings for a new data center campus in Fairfield, Texas, located next to Calpine’s Freestone natural gas power plant.

Construction permits have been filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for three buildings at the campus, located on the FM 488 highway in Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, around 90 miles (144.8km) south of Dallas.

Data center company CyrusOne has partnered with Calpine LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Constellation Energy Corporation, and the operator of the Freestone Energy Campus, on this 760MW data center project. Full details of the project hadn't previously been announced.

Set to cost $1.5 billion, the data centers will be powered by the Freestone Energy Campus 1GW natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility, which covers approximately 506 acres.

CyrusOne has broken ground on two of the three facilities, with construction of the third due to commence next month. The data center campus is expected to be completed by the end of August 2027.

The data center development comprises three one-story insulated pre-cast buildings (with accessory support spaces) named DFW20A, DFW20B, and DFW20C. Each building will be 306,215 sq ft (28,450 sqm) in size, totaling 918,650 sq ft (85,345 sqm).

As of yet, no tenants have been assigned to any of the three facilities, according to the TDLR filings.

CyrusOne is owned by investment funds KKR and Global Infrastructure Partners, and has more than 60 operational data centers in nine countries around the world, spread across Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America. In Texas alone, it operates 15 data centers.

Constellation is the largest nuclear energy company in the United States and acquired Calpine, the largest geothermal and natural gas company in the country, in a deal that closed in January 2026.

CyrusOne and Calpine have partnered on another data center project located next to the Thad Hill Energy Campus natural gas power plant, announced in July 2025. The 400MW data center campus is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.
