CyrusOne has started work on a new data center development in Texas.

The company last week broke ground on its newest data center campus in Freestone County, some 90 miles (144.8km) south of Dallas.

Full details of the planned development haven’t been shared.

CyrusOne partnered with Constellation earlier this year, announcing a 380MW agreement to connect and serve a new data center development adjacent to the Calpine-operated Freestone Energy Center. The companies later signed a second agreement, for another 380MW at the site.

The 1GW Freestone Energy Center is a natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility located on approximately 506 acres near Fairfield. Calpine secured regulatory approval to colocate a data center at the site around May.

KKR-owned CyrusOne has more than 50 data centers across the US and European markets. In the Texas market, it has more than 14 data centers – both planned and operational – with more than half based around Dallas-Fort Worth.

CyrusOne is developing a 400MW campus adjacent to Calpine’s Thad Hill Energy Center in Bosque County. The first data center is currently under construction and expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.
