John Byrne

Head of Operations - UK&I, Enel X

John Byrne is the Head of Operations at Enel X UK & Ireland, where he leads the enablement of Enel X customer participation in demand response programs. His team ensures that Enel X’s large industrial and commercial business customers have the necessary technology and procedures in place to provide this important resource to electricity grid systems. John has co-developed scalable, future-proof hardware solutions that meet some of the demand response industry’s strictest requirements and are used in markets around the world.

John combines 20 years of electrical experience as a Qualified Electrician with 8 years in the energy industry, initially working with Irish demand response start-up Activation Energy, then demand response pioneer EnerNOC, and now with global demand response leader Enel X. He is a member of Engineers Ireland. John holds a Bachelor’s of Science from the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown (now known as Technological University Dublin) in Sustainable Electrical & Control Technology and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Operations Management at Dublin City University.
