VueNow InfoTech has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 13,500 crore (~US$1.6bn) to develop the infrastructure for 750 Edge data centers across Uttar Pradesh, India.
The MoU was signed by VueNow Infotech Pvt Ltd managing director Sukhvinder Singh Kharaur with infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) Arvind Kumar on Monday 21 November, and will set up Edge data centers in all districts of the state.
Chief Secretary of India Durga Shanker Mishra, who oversaw the MoU, has described Uttar Pradesh as the "preferred destination for global data center operators."
The Uttar Pradesh state is home to 14 cities that were nominated to take part in the Government of India’s Smart Cities Mission, a competition where cities vied for additional funding to improve their quality of life and help create sustainability through digitalization. Many of these applications are heavily reliant on low-latency connectivity.
In April, VueNow announced that it was proposing data center developments across the Indian state of Bihar consisting of dozens of Edge facilities.
