Vietnamese telco Saigontel is looking to develop a data center in Ho Chi Minh City.
First reported by Baodautu, Saigon Telecommunication Technology Joint Stock Company (Saigontel) sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and a number of related units proposing to invest in a data center project at the Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, Cu Chi District.
Further details on the scope and timelines of development were not shared.
The publication reported the board of Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones (Hepza) has told the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center that the proposed project is consistent with the city's investment attraction goals and the industrial park’s development planning.
Founded in 2002, Saigontel is part of Saigon Invest Group. It is a property and telecoms firm. Real estate projects include industrial parks, mega-urban projects, and social housing.
Viettel is also developing a data center in the 542-hectare Tan Phu Trung Park. Phase one of the 6,500-rack facility is due to go live next year.
