Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, has awarded a £210,000 ($265,530) data center contract to Lunar Digital Solutions.
The contract began on December 20, 2023, and is set to end on December 20, 2026.
Lunar Digital Solutions will be providing the university with data center colocation services, though it is unclear from which Manchester data center this will be.
The company signed a 15-year lease in June 2023 with Capitaland Ascendas REIT to occupy its Reynolds House data center in Manchester which was previously occupied by Equinix.
This brought Lunar Digital's total data center portfolio to three facilities in Manchester with a combined 35,000 sq ft of IT space, and another in Gaupner, Norway.
At the same time as it moved into Reynolds House, Lunar committed to spending "seven figures" on upgrading its Manchester data centers.
In 2019, Schneider Electric and APT provided Manchester Metropolitan University with an onsite data center that uses Schneider Electric's Modular EcoStruxure Architecture.
According to a 2021 tender, the university has a total of three on-premise data centers and eighty communication relay rooms across its campus. The university is also an Oracle Cloud customer, having awarded Oracle a £5.8m ($7.32m) contract in 2022 for the migration of its HR and Finance workloads.
