Telkom Indonesia’s NeutraDC and Singtel’s Nxera have topped out a data center in Batam, Indonesia.

BTM-1’s topping-out ceremony was attended by individuals representing Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia, as well as renewable power producer Medco Power Indonesia.

Construction for the facility began in June of last year, and it is set to go live in the first half of next year.

Located at Kabil Industrial Estate, a tech park on the island of Batam across the strait from Singapore, the facility is expected to provide more than 50MW of capacity.

Telkom Indonesia is one of Indonesia’s largest telcos, and NeutraDC is the company’s data center arm. Nxera is Singtel’s regional data center arm.

The Industrial Estate is also home to another one of NeutraDC’s facilities. The company recently signed an electrical purchase agreement with Indonesian electrical utility PT PLN Batam for 90MVA of medium-voltage electricity to the 60MW data center between 2025 and 2028.

Most of Indonesia’s data centers are clustered around the nation’s capital, Jakarta, which is located on the island of Java. But Batam’s proximity to Singapore has attracted data center operators to the area, including to Nongsa Digital Park. Companies include Telkom Indonesia & Etisalat, GDS, Gaw Capital Partners, Oracle, and BW Digital.
