Taiwan’s National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC) has launched a new supercomputer, Nano4.
The new system provides enhanced AI computing resources for academia, government agencies, and industry users, according to a statement from NCHC.
It was first announced last year.
Nano4 is apparently equipped with Nvidia H200 GPUs, and features eight GPUs per server, as well as a 400 Gbps high-speed network, and 2TB of memory per node. “This advanced architecture significantly improves performance for AI development, scientific simulations, data analytics, and other compute-intensive workloads,” the NCHC said.
The Asus-manufactured machine was entered in the Top500 list, where it ranked 33rd, making it Taiwan’s highest entry. The listing notes it features 256,960 processor cores and achieved Linpack performance of 81.55 PFlops.
The statement from the NCHC added: “The deployment of Nano4 further strengthens Taiwan’s sovereign computing infrastructure and supports research and innovation in key fields such as AI, semiconductors, biomedical sciences, climate modeling, digital twins, and smart manufacturing. It will help accelerate technology development and real-world applications across academia, government, and industry.”
Full commercial operations will begin in July. “NCHC welcomes research institutions, government organizations, and enterprises with needs in AI, HPC, and large-scale data analytics to leverage these national computing resources and help drive Taiwan into the next era of intelligent technology,” the statement added.
