Colocation provider Telehouse Thailand has signed a strategic partnership with satellite engineering and space technology firm mu Space.
The partnership aims to optimize resource utilization, enhance network infrastructure, and improve service reliability across the Thai data center sector.
As part of the agreement, Telehouse will extend its data center capacity to mu Space customers. The firm also plans to enhance mu Space network performance for Low Earth Orbit satellite services, focusing on improving their speed and efficiency. Finally, the partnership aims to offer low-latency and backup routes for data center interconnection (DCI) in Thailand.
“By combining our advanced satellite technology with Telehouse’s industry-leading colocation services, we are committed to delivering superior satellite and data center solutions that will drive growth and efficiency across our industries,” said James Yenbamroong, CEO of mu Space.
Ken Miyashita, managing director of Telehouse Thailand, added: “This collaboration enables us to combine our industry-leading connectivity with mu Space’s innovative satellite technology, offering more efficient, reliable, and scalable solutions."
This is mu Space’s second foray into the data center market, having previously collaborated with Lightstrom on data center interconnect and network expansions.
In March, the firm signed a distribution deal with One Web to deliver the satellite firm’s connectivity solutions across mainland Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Established in 1988 and owned by Japanese telco KDDI, Telehouse has operations in 15 cities globally, including in the UK, France, France, Germany, China, Singapore, Vietnam, and Japan.
Its Thai arm launched its first data center in Bangkok in May 2023. The 9,000 sqm (97,000 sq ft) facility offers 9.5MVA of capacity. The company said it had invested $74 million in the project.
