Team Telecom Armenia has completed its 2G shutdown.
As reported by Arka Telecom, the telco has become the first telco in Armenia to retire its 2G network, as the carrier focuses on its 4G and 5G networks instead.

More than 1,000 base stations have been upgraded as Team Telecom Armenia's 2G network has been phased out. These sites now operate exclusively with "modern technologies."
Freed-up frequencies from the 2G have now been reallocated for the operator's 4G and 5G networks.
"I am pleased to note that, together with Team, we were the first in the Caucasus to take on this responsibility, becoming a leader in closing a historically important chapter in the telecom industry and transitioning to new technologies," said Hayk Yesayan, CEO of Team Telecom Armenia.
"This key change has created an opportunity not only to modernize the mobile communications infrastructure but also to enhance the digital security of services."
Founded in 1995, Team Telecom Armenia initially operated as Armentel until 2017, before it was rebranded by parent company Veon to Veon Armenia. Veon then sold the company in 2020 to Team CJSC, which was founded by Armenian businessmen Hayk and Alexander Yesayan.
