APAC data center firm ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has signed new energy deal in India.

CleanMax this week announced STT GDC has expanded its existing partnership with the energy firm, signing additional Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

The latest agreement includes an additional 21MWp of solar capacity, adding to CleanMax’s existing wind–solar hybrid power supply to STT GDC India’s facilities in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. STT GDC is also taking a 26 percent equity investment in the renewable energy project.

This expansion takes the companies’ partnership to 130MW of hybrid renewable energy capacity across Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

CleanMax has a portfolio of more than 2GW of operational renewable assets across Asia and has secured backing from Brookfield. It has signed PPAs with Equinix, Amazon, Meta, and Google.

Across India, STT GDC’s footprint totals some 30 data centers spanning 10 cities and more than 400MW of critical IT load capacity. The company has signed MoUs with the governments of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh to develop large-scale, AI-ready data centers, and the firm has expansion plans across Mumbai, Noida, Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

Investment firm KKR and Singaporean telecoms firm Singtel fully acquired STT GDC earlier this year.
