ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) India has broken ground on its Edge data center facility in Jaipur, India.
Announced in a recent LinkedIn post, the facility will span 165,000 sq ft (15,300 sqm) on a 1.47-acre site, providing 6MW of IT capacity.
The company added the facility will be built to host AI workloads.
The project is the company’s first Edge deployment, with further deployments planned for India’s secondary markets, though the company did not provide specifics.
Timelines for the facility have not yet been shared.
STT GDC’s India unit is majority-owned by STT GDC. Tata Communications has a minority stake in the company.
The operator currently has 28 data centers across 10 cities in India, with a capacity of more than 318MW.
The company recently announced a $3.2 billion investment plan in India to expand its data center operations. The operator said it will add 550MW of capacity to its current offering over the next five to six years, nearly tripling the company’s IT capacity.
Most recently, the company broke ground on two facilities in Mumbai, India.
