APAC data center firm STT GDC has broken ground on two facilities in Mumbai, India.
“We proudly marked the start of our STT Navi Mumbai 2 & STT Navi Mumbai 3 data centers, joined by key partners and leaders,” the company said on LinkedIn this week. "With state-of-the-art, sustainable design and a shared vision for growth, this milestone sets the stage for advancements.”
The two facilities will go live in 2026. According to a sales brochure, they will offer 40MW each, across eight and seven stories respectively.
STT Navi Mumbai 1 is also under development at the same 11.5-acre campus as buildings 2 and 3. The air-cooled campus is designed to offer densities of up to 15kW, with an average of 5kW, according to the brochure.
STT GDC’s India unit is majority-owned by STT GDC. Tata Communications holds a minority stake in the company.
The operator’s Indian portfolio currently consists of 28 data centers across 10 cities in India, with a capacity of more than 318MW. It has three existing facilities in Mumbai totaling 14.5MW.
The company recently announced a $3.2 billion investment plan in India to expand its data center operations. The operator said it will add 550MW of capacity to its current offering over the next five to six years, nearly tripling the company’s IT capacity.
The company broke ground on its third Chennai data center campus earlier this year. It is scheduled for completion in September 2025.
