Apple has announced a swathe of green initiatives in India.

In its first and most notable agreement, Apple has signed a 150MW renewable supply deal with CleanMax. The deal builds on a long-term relationship between the two companies, including several rooftop solar projects that have powered the company's office and retail stores.

As part of the tie-up, Apple will invest an initial INR 100 crore ($11.83 million) to support the development of the new renewable capacity.

Apple has also partnered with conservation NGO WWF-India to support recovery-focused recycling and waste management initiatives in the South Asian country. The partnership will build on WWF’s collaboration with waste-management firm Saahas Zero Waste in Goa.

Apple will support companies in establishing facilities that collect, sort, and recover recyclable materials, with full traceability, to prevent plastic leakage into surrounding ecosystems. With Apple’s backing, the companies will expand the initiative into new regions, including Coimbatore.

Finally, Apple also announced a new initiative to back early-stage entrepreneurs through a new partnership with Acumen. The initiative will provide catalytic grants to six green enterprises developing solutions across waste management, circular economy and consumption, and regenerative agriculture and livelihoods.

According to Apple, the program will provide mentorship, strategic guidance, technical assistance, and network access to help social entrepreneurs validate promising business models and put them on a path to scale.

Apple has signed several clean energy deals over recent years to bolster its clean energy credentials. Most recently, last October, the firm signed several deals across Europe, adding more than 650MW of new renewable capacity.
