Data center developer Stack has started work on a new facility in Tokyo, Japan.
The company this week announced it has broken ground on the second data center at its Inzai campus, adding a standalone 18MW building to the existing 18MW facility. Delivery of TKYO1B is expected in Q4 2027.
Plans for the Tokyo site were first announced in early 2022. TOK01 was originally due to launch in Q4 2023 but launched in October 2024. The 2.3-hectare campus will feature two purpose-built 18MW buildings at full build-out.
Stack was launched by investment firm IPI Partners in early 2019 after merging former Infomart and T5 assets into a new wholesale colocation provider. Stack owner IPI was acquired by Blue Owl Capital in 2024.
The company first announced plans to expand into APAC in October 2021, and is also developing an Osaka campus in partnership with ESR. As well as Japan, Stack’s APAC portfolio includes data centers in operation and development in Australia and Seoul.
