Aussie neocloud Sharon AI has secured a $500 million debt facility to expand its AI infrastructure in Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region.
Announced on January 22, the debt facility has been provided by USD.AI's on-chain credit system and will enable Sharon AI to deploy GPUs financed with stablecoin liquidity.
Sharon AI is expected to begin drawing on the facility this quarter, starting with $65 million in initial GPU deployments, and the rest will enable future capacity to be financed as data centers come online.
Sharon AI co-founder and chairman, James Manning, said: “We are excited to have partnered with such an innovative financier in USD.AI. Their approach to GPU financing is market leading, and we look forward to further deployments with them as we accelerate our compute infrastructure to service hyperscale, research, enterprise, and government customers in Australia and Asia-Pacific.”
USD.AI's financing model secures credit against verified GPU assets instead of corporate balance sheets, enabling a transparent basis for credit issuance and monitoring. It has previously been used to provide funding to the likes of QumulusAI and Quantum Solutions.
Conor Moore, co-Founder and COO of Permian Labs, the developer of the USD.AI Protocol, said: "Sharon AI is precisely the type of partner USD.AI was built for – well capitalized with operational expertise and public market discipline, but unwilling to let growth be constrained by slower-moving, legacy financial rails. Their speed to adopt new financial infrastructure allows them to scale quickly to establish a dominant presence in Australia and Asia-Pacific.”
The new debt facility shortly follows Sharon AI's convertible note capital raise from December 2025, which provided $100 million to the company to fund its expansion. The company has also partnered with digital infrastructure investor Digital Alpha and Cisco earlier this month, in which an undisclosed investment was made in Sharon AI.
In November, Sharon AI signed a 50MW capacity agreement with NextDC for a data center in Melbourne, Australia, where it planned to house more than 20,000 Nvidia B200, B300, or GB300 GPUs. Besides the cluster in Melbourne and the current development in Texas, Sharon AI leases space in Equinix's SY3 and SY5 data centers in Sydney, Australia.
Around the same time, reports emerged that the company was "seeking to undertake a pre-initial public offering capital raising via an offer of unsecured convertible promissory notes ahead of a planned listing in Q1 2026.”
In the US, Sharon AI was developing a data center campus in Ector County, Texas, through its joint venture with New Era Energy & Digital. The JV acquired a 235-acre plot in April 2025, where it plans to site the data center, and, in October 2025, purchased an additional 203 acres of land for the project. Earlier this month, New Era acquired Sharon AI's stake in the JV.
