Australian neocloud Sharon AI has signed a 50MW capacity expansion agreement with NextDC.

In addition, the company is reportedly undergoing a private funding round with the hope it will "warm up" the market for a future public listing.

The deal builds on Sharon AI's existing agreement with NextDC through which it leases space at the data center provider's M3 data center in Melbourne.

Sharon AI hosts its "Supercluster" there, which it can now expand to house more than 20,000 Nvidia B200, B300, or GB300 GPUs. Currently, that cluster has some 1,000 GPUs live.

“AI infrastructure is the foundation of the intelligence economy,” said Craig Scroggie, CEO of NextDC. “Sharon AI, in collaboration with Nvidia, is deploying sovereign, high-density GPU capacity engineered for AI at speed and scale. This collaboration highlights the rapid acceleration of global AI development and the essential role that secure, sovereign infrastructure plays in enabling this growth across the region.”

“We are excited to have expanded our relationship with NextDC and to be building additional sovereign AI GPU compute infrastructure in Australia,” said Wolf Schubert, CEO of Sharon AI. “This capacity expansion agreement ensures we have the energy and data center capacity to materially expand our GPU fleet and cloud offering to enterprise, government, and research customers in the region and beyond.”

In the US, Sharon AI is developing a data center campus in Ector County, Texas, through its joint venture with New Era Energy & Digital. The JV acquired a 235-acre plot in April 2025, where it plans to site the data center, and, in October 2025, purchased an additional 203 acres of land for the project.

Sharon AI conducts private funding round

According to a report from the Australian Financial Review (AFR), which claims to have seen company documents, Sharon AI is currently "seeking to undertake a pre-initial public offering capital raising via an offer of unsecured convertible promissary notes ahead of a planned listing in Q1 2026.”

Meetings with investors have been arranged by stockbroking and advisory firm Canaccord Genuity, according to AFR.

Speaking in May 2025, Andrew Leece, co-founder and COO, said: "The interest from Asian firms, and everyone else around the world, has exploded. Everyone’s looking for Nvidia-backed computing power, and all of a sudden, Australia has become this regional darling for AI expansion.”

Besides the cluster in Melbourne and the current development in Texas, Sharon AI leases space in Equinix's SY3 and SY5 data centers in Sydney, Australia.
