QTS Data Centers has submitted plans to build a 1.1 million square foot data center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The proposals, submitted to the Georgia Department of Committee Affairs, would see the data center provider build another facility on its Jefferson Street campus in Fulton County.

The plans, submitted under the name ‘Project Granite,' would see QTS develop 2.3 million sq ft of mixed-use development on approximately 36 acres of land, including data center space, office, retail, and residential land uses.

The site, on 1033 Jefferson Street, would include a 1.15 million sq ft (106,000 sq m) data center, 640,000 sq ft (59,000 sq m) of offices, 70,000 sq ft (6,500 sqm) of retail & restaurant, and 400 Residential Units. The developer is listed as West Midtown Acquisition Company, LLC, and work would be completed by 2024.

Atlanta is becoming a hub for large data center campuses; QTS opened its 72MW DC2 facility in Atlanta last year; Facebook has a campus in the city, as does Microsoft; and a company operating under the name ‘Baymare LLC’ recently proposed a 900,000 sq ft facility in the area.
