Police are on the hunt for two individuals over the theft of copper from a transmission line at a communications site in Florence County, South Carolina.

Wireless Estimator reports that two individuals damaged and removed the coaxial cable used to transmit radio signals to the antenna from a site at 2423 Walker-Swinton Road on January 12, 2026.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 has been offered by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects.

One of the suspects was seen to be wearing Croc-style footwear, according to one eagle-eyed commenter.

The full extent and damage in costs has not been disclosed by the FCSO.

It's also not known what tower was attacked, with Wireless Estimator confirming that the site hosts two guyed communications towers, with one 620 feet tall and the other approximately 400 feet in height. Both are registered with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and owned by Resco Towers.

As per the FCC, two broadcast stations are said to operate from the site; WFRK-FM 95.3 and WOLH-AM 1230.

A report carried out last year by several groups, including the NCTA, WIA, and CTIA, found that there were 15,540 incidents across the US between June 2024 and June 2025 where infrastructure theft or vandalism to telecoms infrastructure was reported.
