Cloud services operator Polcom will develop a 40MW data center in Skawina, southern Poland.

The facility will support both traditional business applications and the firm’s new sovereign cloud platform for AI services, according to reporting by CRN. The project will see the firm invest up to PLN 150 million ($39.4m). The data center will consist of six server rooms cooled by water, air, and mixed cooling systems, and is expected to open in 2030. DCD has approached Polcom for comment.

“AI is moving from the experimental stage to real-world business applications,” said Polcom’s CEO, Marcin Gwóźdź. “The number of megawatts alone no longer defines the infrastructure's capabilities. What matters more is what environments can be run on it, how efficiently they can be powered and cooled, and where the data is located and who processes it.”

Polcom’s new data center in Skawina follows its development of another 15MW project in the same town in 2010 and an 8MW facility in Alwernia, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, five years later. In 2025, the firm announced two new data center projects near Krakow with a combined IT compute capacity of 44MW and the launch of Polcom AI cloud, its sovereign cloud platform for AI services. Overall, the firm has invested PLN 42 million ($11m) in expanding its energy and IT infrastructure since 2024.

Founded in 1991, Polcom is one of Poland’s leading cloud service providers. Its new data center in Skawina will add to a growing market for such facilities in the country’s south. In May, real estate developer LVL Energy announced plans to build a 50MW data center in Dąbrowa Górnicza, in Poland’s Silesian Voivodeship. This was preceded in April by an announcement from the municipality of Gliwice, in the same province, that it would build its own Tier III facility.
