Meta has bought a land parcel adjacent to its existing Los Lunas campus in New Mexico, paving the way for a potential expansion.

A 475-acre land parcel adjacent to Meta’s Los Lunas campus is now owned by known Meta affiliate Greater Kudu LLC.

Albuquerque Business First reported that real estate firm CBRE brokered the sale, which closed last December.

Meta has been eyeing an expansion to the campus for some time, and previous reporting indicates that this would come in the form of two new buildings.

An Industrial Revenue Bond (IRB) application to fund the expansion was submitted to the Village of Los Lunas in October 2024, and the village approved the issuance of six series of IRBs worth $7.5 billion last year.

IRBs have been used to fund the development of the Los Lunas campus from its inception.

Excluding last year, around $70bn worth of IRBs have been used to fund the campus’s seven buildings, the first of which was developed in 2016 back when Meta was known as Facebook.

Los Lunas is situated south of Albuquerque, a city located in central New Mexico. Albuquerque is home to the state’s largest concentration of data centers, but New Mexico is not one of the US’ major data center hotspots.
