Latin American data center provider Kio Networks has launched a new facility in Querétaro, Mexico.

With this facility, the company reaches almost 19MW of capacity in the state and consolidates a high-density hub next to its already operational QRO1.

"The opening of QRO2 strengthens our long-standing presence in Querétaro and reinforces the state's role in Mexico's digital development," explains Octavio Camarena, CEO of KIO Data Centers, underscoring the company's focus on protecting its customers' critical information and enabling their growth. With this project, KIO seeks to respond to the accelerated demand for high-density capacity associated with the cloud and AI in the Mexican market.

Launched in 2007 and located at Cerrada de la Princesa No. 4 in the Parque Industrial El Marqués, the 2.5MW QRO1 offers 4,100 sqm (44,132 sq ft) across five data halls. The fifth data hall was launched in February 2022. The company announced plans for its third data center in Queretaro in February 2023.

Founded in 2002 and owned by I Squared Capital since 2021, Kio operates 20 data centers in Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Colombia. The company’s 13 core data centers offer a combined 26MW of IT capacity.

Kio previously had two facilities in the US, but sold them to Zayo in 2017; both are now operated by DataBank. It also sold its Spanish operations last year.
