Kazteleport JSC has launched a data center facility in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana.
Located in Ereymentau, the data center is designed to hold up to 100 racks and offer 2MW of IT capacity across 366 sqm (3,900 sq ft) of white space.
Other details have not yet been shared.
“Given the high pace of digitalization of the country, I am sure that the launch of a data center like ours is good news for the IT community of the country. Confidence in the safety of data and availability of services has always been and will be the main priority for any business," said Kuat Kussaibekov, chairman of the board of Kazteleport JSC.
The facility is the company’s eleventh data center and its second to be Uptime Tier III certified. Its other Tier III site was opened in Sairam in 2022 and also offers 2MW of capacity.
Kazteleport JSC is a subsidiary of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC and is one of the largest IT and cloud providers in the country.
In 2022, the company announced plans to build facilities in neighboring Uzbekistan, although there have been no updates since.
Earlier this year, Yandex was reported to be opening a cloud region in Kazakhstan. Like Kazteleport, the Russian tech company has a presence in both Astana and Almaty.
