Jennifer Weitzel is back at Microsoft.

Weitzel has been named the CVP of engineering, procurement, and construction at the company, after three years away from the hyperscaler.

In the interim, Weitzel was the president of Ada Infrastructure, a data center venture backed by APAC logistics real estate firm GLP.

Weitzel spent six years at Microsoft, most recently as the VP of cloud infrastructure leases and M&A. She also worked for more than seven years at data center giant Digital Realty, including as the SVP of commercial and global supply chain.

"Jen brings a wealth of experience and a bold vision for the future to grow our Cloud and AI data center infrastructure. The hire came the same week Microsoft laid off around three percent of its staff, some 6,000 workers, including those in the data center and cloud business unit.
