Google has filed to expand an in-development data center campus outside Atlanta, Georgia.

KDC, on behalf of the property owner, has filed a development of regional impact application with Georgia's State Department of Community Affairs for PRL2, a data center project in LaGrange.

The project would see the development of a 470,000 sq ft (43,665 sqm) data center building, joining an existing building on the site at 411 Pegasus Parkway.

The new building is valued at $1 billion. Construction could run until 2029.

The filing hinted at further potential expansion of the site, but said: “future phases remain speculative at this time.”

LaGrange, in Troup County, is located some 70 miles (112 km) southwest of Atlanta.

The site is a known Google development, with the search giant confirming its involvement in April. Work is ongoing on the first building.

A construction worker had to be rescued from the site by the local fire department in April after being injured on the data center’s roof.

The site, a former manufacturing site for plastics firm Jindal Films, was previously being developed by Thor Equities, but the company has confirmed to DCD that it is no longer involved in the project. Thor had previously said the first building could total 50MW of capacity on the 270-acre site and go live in late 2026 or early 2027, with an eventual capacity of 400MW being targeted.

Google has an existing data center campus in Georgia in Douglas County, near Atlanta. That campus was built in 2007 and expanded in 2015.

It is also developing in Monroe County, Georgia, having purchased 950 acres in the area in October 2025. Another 1.2GW data center in Irwin County, Georgia, has been linked with Google but has not been officially announced.
