Google has filed to develop two $500 million data center projects in Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas.

Dubbed Project Rise 1A and Project Rise 2A, the data centers have been filed by Planton Investments LLC and Platon Investments LLC, respectively, both of which list 1600 Ampitheatre Parkway, California, as their address, which is the Googleplex campus.

Project Rise 1A is located at FM 2897 S in Vernon and saw work begin on March 31, 2026. According to the filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), 991,000 sq ft (92,065 sqm) of floor space will be developed, with construction work completed by the end of March 2028.

Project Rise 2A is listed for the same location, same size, and same construction timeline as its twin.

Both projects list the scope of work as for a "new data center with associated mechanical and electrical yards, fire lanes, security entrance, and utilities."

In February of this year, Google said it would be developing a data center in Wilbarger County that would be colocated to use on-site ‘clean energy’ from US energy firm AES.

Google has a firm presence in the Texas market, with operational data center campuses in Midlothian and Red Oak, as well as under-construction sites in Armstrong and Haskell Counties. In June 2026, the company commenced construction of a data center at the Meitner Energy Center in Gray and Roberts Counties, Texas.

Last November, Google announced a huge investment in the state, committing $40 billion through 2027.

Wilbarger County is a county located in the North Texas region, between Amarillo and Wichita Falls. It is not currently a data center hotspot, with most of the state's data centers located around Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.
