Edge AI and cloud provider Gcore is teaming up with AzInTelecom LLC for a sovereign cloud offering in Azerbaijan.

AzInTelecom, operating under the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON), will work with Gcore to develop a cloud platform that meets Azerbaijan's data regulations.

The offering, dubbed the "AzInCloud" platform, will be a public cloud service based on a pay-as-you-use model.

Andre Reitenbach, CEO of Gcore, said: “Digital sovereignty is not a luxury, but a strategic necessity. Together with AzInTelecom, we operate a sovereign cloud solution that gives Azerbaijan full control over its digital infrastructure – secure, transparent, and independent. This is the foundation for trust, resilience, and true digital autonomy.”

Farrukh Farajullayev, chief commercial officer at AzInTelecom, added: “The main goal of the AzInCloud platform is to make modern cloud services accessible to everyone and to promote digital transformation in the business environment. We are proud to be the first company to create such a platform in Azerbaijan in partnership with Gcore.”

The cloud will be hosted in AzinTelecom's data center in Baku.

The telco currently operates data centers in Baku and Yevlakh. AzInTelecom's data center in Baku was launched in 2016 and is Tier III certified by Uptime Institute. The facility spans more than 700 sqm (7,535 sq ft), and is ISO 20000 and ISO 27001 certified. In December 2024, the European Investment Bank loaned €43 million ($44.71m) for the development of two data centers for AzInTelecom in Azerbaijan, located in the Absheron and Hajigabul regions.

In November 2024, Gcore signed an MoU with Qareeb Data Centers for digital infrastructure in the Gulf Cooperation Council. That agreement would see Gcore's AI, cloud, and Edge products integrated with Qareeb's data center platform.

Gcore was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Luxembourg. The company has a global network of more than 180 Edge nodes and more than 50 cloud locations.

The company recently partnered with Northern Data to develop an intelligence delivery network (IDN) for AI workloads. The IDN will combine Northern Data's infrastructure with Gcore's everywhere inference software and networking architecture and is hoped to offer customers with on-demand and simple-to-deploy architecture for AI workloads.
